Noblesville Wedding Photographer | Tara & Angel’s Mill Top Winter Wedding

Updated: 5 days ago

Tara and Angel tied the knot on December 28th, 2024, at the beautiful Mill Top Banquet & Event Center (one of the best wedding venues near Indianapolis) in Noblesville, Indiana. Their wedding was a perfect blend of elegance, personal touches, and fun, making it a memorable day for everyone involved. From Tara’s unapologetic love of Betsy Johnson shoes to a heartfelt first dance practice in the evening glow outside the venue, this wedding was nothing short of magical.

Their Love Story: A Copy Room Romance

Tara and Angel’s “meet cute” took place in the copy room of the high school where they both teach. After some time, Angel worked up the courage to ask Tara out for a drink, and the rest, as they say, is history. Their engagement was just as heartfelt as their relationship, with Angel braving frigid February temperatures to propose at Coxhall Gardens under the gazebo after a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner.

Their wedding day was a celebration of their love, full of laughter, sincerity, and a true reflection of their personalities. They emphasized having fun while hosting a day filled with excellent food, music, and a warm atmosphere for their guests.

Highlights of Tara & Angel’s Day

One of the standout moments of their day was Tara’s incredible shoe lineup—she wore three stunning pairs of Betsy Johnson wedding shoes, embodying her “no shoe budget” philosophy. This fun detail added a touch of glamour and individuality to the day.

Another favorite moment was their impromptu first dance practice in front of the venue as night set in. Watching them share this quiet, romantic moment before the celebration began was truly special.

We also made the most of the Mill Top’s incredible photo opportunities, including the balcony upstairs, the side stairs, and the front of the building, ensuring their gallery was filled with diverse and creative shots.

Why the Mill Top is a Top Choice for Weddings

Located in the heart of Noblesville, the Mill Top Banquet & Event Center is a historic venue that seamlessly blends industrial charm with modern elegance. It offers multiple event spaces, perfect for ceremonies, receptions, and unforgettable photos.

As a photographer, I love working here because of its versatility and the amazing staff. We shoot 4-6+ weddings a year at the Mill Top, and each time, the staff’s professionalism ensures that wedding days are smooth and enjoyable for our couples.

Some of my favorite features include:

  • The balcony upstairs for romantic, sweeping shots.

  • The side stairs, which add texture and depth to photos.

  • The front of the building, a classic spot for timeless portraits.

Photography Tips for Couples Planning at the Mill Top

  1. Book the 3rd Floor: This area offers some of the best lighting and angles for wedding photos and is the largest room available. Bonus - you get guaranteed access to the balcony (exclusively)

  2. Plan Ahead: Because the venue hosts multiple weddings in a day, coordinate schedules or consider going off-site for certain shots.

  3. Work with an Experienced Wedding Photographer: Having shot here numerous times, we know how to make the most of every unique space while keeping creativity fresh.

Practical Tips from the Couple

Tara and Angel had some great advice for couples planning their big day:

“Do everything together, stay super organized, get the big stuff taken care of early, and have fun with it.”

These words are especially important for couples planning a winter wedding, where organization is key to making the most of the shorter daylight hours.
